We had one of those in the 80's, I liked going to the beach in it. I would love one with a good diesel swap now.

That’s not an Oldsmobile! Say, that didn’t come from Ron’s collection, did it? I don’t remember seeing that one over there.

Oh boy.. That thing looks crunchy.

I wonder how bad the frame rot is.

Rusty Jeeps are kinda his thing though. When I met him at Indy this year, he drove his “good” XJ. It’s missing a lot of rocker panel.

Super nice guy. Could have talked for hours.

I get it. But SJs that look like that are usually toast underneath. The frame rail next to the fuel tank is usually paper thin to non-existent. I had an 83 Waggy with a good 4' section of frame gone in between the front and rear wheels. Luckily it was just a parts rig for my Cherokee Chief.

I have no doubt he’s a nice guy. I wouldn’t mind meeting him some day. I’m out of my AMC/Jeep phase but it’s always in the blood.

I’ve heard some pretty ugly stories about them. I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt and assume this is a parts truck too. He mentioned a specific project to me that reinforces that belief. I’m sworn to secrecy, but if this is what I think it’s for, it’ll be super B.A.

He could be using it for parts to that J10 he’s been hiding. The 360 would really wake that rig up. And he could use parts of the 258 for a stroker 4.0 build.

I’m looking forward to a write up now.

I emailed him. It’s not a parts truck. He says the frame is all there though. I’m looking forward to reading about it.

Sweet! I actually can’t wait now. Nothing against XJs. Being a man of larger stature makes me want the FSJ more. SJs are a lot like your old Buick wagon with the turning circle of an Escort and 4wd and..

I might put him back in my Will after all.

I’ve never driven one, but I think I need to change that now.

Man I miss that Buick!

Change it ASAP. These were the best full size SUVs ever built. I highly recommend the AMC Eagle too.

Right now my budget is approximately two nickels that I rub together, but in time that will change.

Someone posted a group of three AMCs on the Gambler 500-Illinois Facebook group. Two Sprints and an Eagle wagon for $1000. It’s already sold.
